Good day, everyone! Today we started waking up a little later than normal because it was our kid’s choice to do the things around the island today. We did a lot today which is what I am going to explain. Today’s weather was beautiful and perfect! It was sunny and warm. Our agenda today was just going with the flow! We knew some sadness was coming into us because today is officially our last day on this Island, scratch that - beautiful Island! I cannot believe how the time went by so fast! We went over to the East and West Chop Lighthouse. Eastside was so beautiful because we could go and look around the outside area. After we took a couple of photos and we drove straight to the westside lighthouse. We couldn’t get into the west side because it was private property. People live in the lighthouse, but we still took a couple of photos. The lighthouse made me think that they were brother and sisters. It was funny to think that. We decided to find a place to eat for lunch and play around with the kites. We arrived over to the trail of Lambert Cove Beach and we decided to go through the cute trail they had but hard to walk over because it was full of sand! I arrived and started taking a bunch of photos of students setting up the kites to be in the air. Jarmal, Frederick, and Diana had so much fun while I was shooting photos. They asked me to try but I denied until a while later I gave in and played around a little with the kite. So, while I was watching the kites I took more photos. We piled up in the van and we drove over to the Chilmark Library and we met with the director of the library and she guided us around the partial portion of Katie West’s house. She also explained how the house and the library were built in 2004. It was amazing how the importance of the house from the last deaf Chilmarker and how this Island incorporated the house with the library. We started packing up to go to a different location which is the Gay Head Lighthouse again, We sat down and painted what we wanted to. I painted the Lighthouse and it was looking cute but the day suddenly turned into bone-chilling cold weather. We decided to go home since it was cold and we wanted to chill for a bit. Until we took the wrong turn but ended up seeing an ice cream sign saying OPEN so we decided to stop there and ate some ice cream. It was so delicious and creamy. I wanted more of it. We drove back home and we started to chill around the house and started our journal and have not finished it because we went out to dinner and it was so nice to eat at the Black Dog Tavern. I had a delicious dinner! Jarmal, Frederick and I went out on the Vineyard Haven Harbor beachside and played skipping stones. I was watching and then waited for Jarmal for photoshoots. The timing is perfect and quiet and it was warm out for a night like this. Anne Nutt called us to leave. We left the Black Dog Tavern and went home. I started packing and cleaning the room I am staying in. I am so so so sad to leave tomorrow! I don’t want to leave, I want to stay on this drop-dead gorgeous Island. I had so many memories made on this Island. I think I am going to come back here on a good summer weekend. I love it here and I want to stay here a few more days before I could leave. Bummer! I had an amazing week here, it was a fun and enjoyable week. My favorite experiences were the beaches with the kites and the Misty Meadows Horse Center. I had a blast during these moments. I am definitely coming back on this island to visit Rebecca and Jill. I will forever miss this gorgeous Island of Martha’s Vineyard. Till the next time, Have a good break! “This has been the most amazing experience of my life. I don’t think there’ll be a moment that matches this ever again. It was sensational.” -- Jana Pittman P.S. - I want to say thank you to Anne Nutt, Jane Amoruso, Nancy Zurek for being the best staff to help, encourage, guide us for our traveling experience. I am so thankful for them to make this amazing trip happen. It would not happen if it weren’t for you all three. I want to extend the time to learn about more with what you guys have taught me this past week. I want to stay and hear your stories and hear your feedback but the time did not stop for us to learn and enjoy so thank you all for your time to stay and enjoy the time with us. |
