Good Morning!! Today is the last day of journals and Martha’s Vineyard too!! I am sad. I really want more and stay weeks for more fun and a beautiful Island!! In the future when I start vacation with my friend we will go to Martha’s Vineyard.
We decided where we want to go to a place of lighthouse. We want to go to East Chop and West Chop Lighthouse then we drove there and walked on the street see a beautiful East Chop. Then we drove to West Chop but can’t enter there because it was private property and they own the land. We just saw the West Chop Lighthouse.
We went to Lambert Cove Beach and we brought kites. It is my first time with kite flying I really enjoy the windy beach and fresh air! We ate our own lunch during the beach and kite flying. Here is a poem ; “Patience, Patience, Patience, is what the sea teaches. Patience and faith. One should lie empty, open, choiceless as a beach - waiting for a gift from the sea” by Anne Morrow Lindbergh, Gift From the Sea.
We arrived to the Chilmark Library. It is so beautiful inside! We wanted see Katie West’s own room. There was a very nice room. Women who work from library talked about deaf history and culture around 1800’s. Very interesting about history in the Martha’s Vineyard!! One man’s name is Thomas Hart Benton who was a famous painter for live deaf in the area of Chilmark. He decided to paint each person and people too. His painting was so beautiful omg generous!!
Then we decided again to go to Gay Head Lighthouse!! We brought paint for any idea of our art. I painted sunset with sea, ocean, bird and boat that was my idea as beautiful!! But I didn’t finish painting it.
Finally Bernie's ice creams was open and we ate ice cream! I chose coffee ice cream. It tasted great!!
Then back to home to relax and some sleep, doing with journal too. Soon ready to go out to dinner for the last of today before we leave tomorrow. Again, we went to The Black Dog it was fun! The students and I decided to give a card of thank you letter to three teachers.
What is my favorite parts this week. I love Lighthouses because I never went there. It is gorgeous with the beautiful windy ocean!! I wish to stay for more weeks!!
I want to say something that I felt like that Martha’s Vineyard is really important for me to learn and experience history, culture, no matter what - all together as one!! I want say thank you so much to Anne, Nancy and Jane!! I really appreciate that Anne was driver and cook for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Nancy helped us fix with grammar English writing of journals! Jane made Thinking Maps to help us understand the process and organization!! I will miss you so much and I hope On The Road keeps forever and never lose our memories!! This is my last year of On The Road!!
